Description Robert Half is hiring Collections Specialists for contract and contract-to-hire roles starting ASAP! The Collections Specialist will play a critical role in managing accounts receivable and ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of direct experience in collections, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build rapport with clients.Responsibilities:
Contact customers via phone, email, and mail to follow up on overdue payments
Negotiate payment plans and resolve payment disputes in a professional and efficient manner
Review aging reports and prioritize collection activities based on account aging
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of collections activities and customer interactions
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies and address customer inquiries
Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and provide regular updates to management
Prepare and submit reports on collections activities and account statuses
Identify opportunities for process improvements to streamline collections procedures
Assist with month-end closing activities and provide support for audit requests
Requirements
1-3 years of direct experience in collections or related field
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness
Experience with collections software or accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) preferred
