City Traffic Engineer - City of Escondido
Webuild Staffing (www.webuildstaffing.com) has been retained exclusively by the City of Escondido to recruit a highly qualified City Traffic Engineer to lead and manage the Transportation Section within the Engineering Services Division of the Development Services Department.
The ideal individual for this role has six years (full-time equivalent) of responsible civil engineering experience, including two years in project management, administration, or supervisory roles working within a city engineering department or consulting firm managing engineering activities and work groups.
The City Traffic Engineer will oversee and coordinate the activities and operations of the Transportation Section. This leadership role involves managing transportation-related projects, including reviewing transportation impact analyses, designing and reviewing engineering structures such as streets, parking lots, traffic signals, lighting, medians, and turning lanes, and evaluating and improving the City’s transportation systems to enhance safety and optimize traffic flow by developing and implementing traffic signal synchronization, timing plans, and pedestrian and bicycle safety projects.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Transportation Section.
Ensure compliance with local, regional, and state transportation standards and regulations.
Supervise and train staff, manage budgets, and prepare detailed reports on engineering workloads and accomplishments.
Research and analyze innovative transportation solutions and trends to improve service delivery.
Represent the City in public meetings, including Transportation Commission meetings.
Coordinate with other agencies and organizations to achieve project goals and address transportation needs.
Respond to public inquiries and concerns with professionalism and tact, ensuring excellent customer service.
Maintain workplace safety by implementing action plans and overseeing safety programs.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Must possess a valid California Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) or as a Traffic Engineer. Strong technical expertise, effective communication skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships is essential.
