ORGANIZATION: The First Baptist Church of National City (FBCNC) is an American Baptist congregation affiliated with the American Baptist Churches of Los Angeles, the Southwest, and Hawaii, which is a region of American Baptist Churches (USA). POSITION SUMMARY: With a commitment of three hours per week, the Sunday School Teacher provides care and Christian education to young people (ages 3-8) during Sunday worship.

DUTIES:

The Sunday School Teacher will be on duty during the bilingual Lao-English Sunday Communion Service, essentially from 9:00-11:00 a.m. (subject to change). During this time, the Sunday School Teacher will be available for meetings to set up, assist with the check-in and check-out of children, and lead the children’s program. In addition to Sunday morning functions, the Sunday School Teacher may work from home or at the church for one flexible hour during the week for lesson planning and the occasional meeting. The total expected time per week is three (3) hours.

Provide safe care for the children of our congregation in accordance with Christian ethical practices and California State laws and guidelines.

Offer age-appropriate children’s education each Sunday morning, planning lessons with the oversight of the Lead Pastor.

Four hours of training at the beginning of employment.

Other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION:

$100 per three hours each week worked.

Four paid weeks off per year. PTO is granted at the beginning of each year. A pro-rated number of weeks will be granted if Employee begins Employment midyear.

Weeks worked are to be submitted to the FBCNC Bookkeeper by email on a weekly basis by the end of the day on a Sunday worked.

Time off requests are to be made two weeks in advance via email to the Lead Pastor and communicated with the Bookkeeper before the Sunday is taken off.

SUPERVISION: The Sunday School Teacher reports to the Lead Pastor.
