ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, TASKS AND DUTIES

● Develop and implement positive developmentally appropriate lesson plans and lead activities that foster social, emotional, cognitive and academic growth of children
● Facilitate learning centers, play games, assign activities and read stories to children
● Changing diapers and assisting children with potty training
● Treating children with dignity and respect
● Promote safe practice; assure that sign-in/sign-out procedures are followed for student protection; monitor student activities to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
● Perform cleaning and disinfecting of toys, tables, chairs, desks and other classroom furniture and equipment; set up cots and cribs.
● Maintain composure under emergency situations and administer first aid for minor injuries and/or accidents
REQUIRED:
● High school diploma or equivalent.
● Correct English usage, including grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
● Strong interpersonal skills, including use of tact, empathy, patience and courtesy
● Must possess and maintain current First Aid and CPR certification
● Authorization to work in the United States
● Negative TB test result
● Criminal Justice and FBI Fingerprint Clearance
● Pre-employment physical exam
PREFERRED:
● A minimum of 12 ECE Core Units in Early Childhood Education – 6 units completed and 6 additional units enrolled (including Child Growth and Development, Child, Family and Community, & Curriculum), and (Infant & Toddler units are a plus)
● 6 months preschool volunteer or teaching preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations)
● Classroom, playground and/or other outdoor environments
● Lift and/or carry items and/or children up to 40 lbs.
● Deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending
● Reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity; may require torso or neck rotation to look back at the class
● Hearing and speaking clearly to exchange information
● Seeing to monitor students and supervise in large outdoor area
● Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist students and to retrieve & store materials
● Sitting, walking and standing for extended periods of time
● Dexterity of fingers for assisting children
● Exposure to climatic elements and intermittent noise
● Potential for contact with bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases
● Frequent interruptions
Pay: $17.50 - $20 Hourly
Schedule: Full time: Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm
