Primary Responsibilities
Program Planning and Development:
Design daily developmentally appropriate preschool lessons/units of study
Design and implement an outdoor learning environment where open-ended play is the focus.
Identify curriculum resources.
Collect and analyze assessment data to measure/facilitate student growth and improve program quality
Teaching and Evaluating:
Serve as lead teacher for designated classes of Little Steps Christian Preschool
Work cooperatively with team to incorporate various teaching methods into daily curriculum.
Facilitate cooperative/interactive approach to planning and teaching within instructional team
Assess programs based on current research and developmentally appropriate practices and make recommendations for improvement
Assure compliance with all relevant governmental rules and Title 22 regulations. Be aware of and responsive to best practices within the early childhood profession.
Determine professional learning needs and opportunities
Creating Community:
Ensure that parents are informed and involved in their children’s experiences and progress.
Plan and facilitate parent and volunteer involvement in programs.
Participate with other staff members in developing collaborations with other preschools, and community and professional organizations.
Promote the importance of early childhood education to parents, caregivers, teachers, funders, etc. through articles, newsletters, interviews, Facebook page, etc.
Professional Responsibilities:
Maintain educational and training requirements for licensing and quality program assessments
Supervision/Evaluation
Supervision and evaluation will be provided by Little Steps Program Director
Maintain open communication with Little Steps staff and coordinate programming with Program Director
Maintain open and regular communication with Program Director
Desired Education/Experience:
12 units/credit hours of Early Childhood Education courses or equivalent education courses. (These requirements are non-negotiable as it is a regulation by the State of California Department of Social Services under Title 22 of the Code of Regulations
One or more years of experience in working at a school with young children
Current certification in First Aid/CPR desired
Must pass complete background check, including fingerprinting
Other Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated interest in young children and early childhood education
Demonstrated good character, responsibility and suitability to meet the needs of children
Demonstrated ability to work in a team
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour DOE
Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
