General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping and receiving function to include shipping, receiving, storing and distribution of materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Plans and directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies. Works with other sites to develop and modify uniform operating procedures for the Company. Interprets and executes operational policies and procedures. Develops documentation and reports to reflect department activities. Develops programs and procedures for the training of assigned personnel. Responsible for ground and air transport of hazardous materials and shipment of ITAR materials.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises the daily activities of the Shipping and Receiving department by prioritizing work assignments for shipping personnel; plans and executes department workload to meet schedules.

Acts as the primary contact with DCMA transportation.

Implements quality standard procedures for the department, as well as departmental training procedures for personnel.

Develops appropriate electronic and hard copy reports and records. May develop new or revise existing electronic or hard copy systems and makes internal presentations.

Oversees and approves transport of hazardous materials; ensures compliance with all required documents and declarations.

Oversees customer shipments of systems; acts as primary contact to military organizations responsible for movement of equipment.

Participates in the selection, retention and development of personnel including interviewing, performance appraisals and promotion recommendations. Develops programs and procedures for the training of personnel.

Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Acts as primary contact for scheduling intra Company material shipments.

Other duties as assigned or required.

Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of an Associate’s degree and nine or more years progressively complex experience in shipping, receiving and material distribution including three or more years supervisory experience. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.

Must demonstrate an in-depth working knowledge and understanding of shipping and receiving principles, concepts, theories, regulations and practices; and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines and milestones.

Must be able to pass certification for transport of hazardous materials and be trained in ITAR for export/import of materials.

Must possess the ability to resolve complex issues.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report and present finding.

Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, management and outside representatives, including providing direction to and scheduling work of assigned staff.

The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Strong computer skills.

MILAIR, DOD transportation and procedures experience preferred.

HAZMAT Certification required.
