We have an immediate need for a Medical Office Assistant for a very prestigious GI practice in Newport Beach. Must be willing to work Full Time.

The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative tasks to support the work of physicians and other healthcare professionals. As part of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant provides direct, professional care to patients within their scope of practice in the office setting and as a member of the procedure team.

Located in Newport Beach and affiliated with Hoag hospital, this office serves an exceptional patient base. Located in a beautiful new building with the latest amenities, this office provides a prestigious and comfortable environment for our patients and our medical team.

This individual must have working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and MS Office programs such as Word and Excel, be familiar with medical terms and vocabulary in Gastroenterology and have a clear understanding of the requirements of HIPAA. They must be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain strict patient and corporate confidentiality.

Required Experience and Knowledge:

-Prepares patient exam rooms for medical examinations and procedures, keeping rooms neat and clean

-Rooms patients in exam room and conducts intake to obtain patients' medical, surgical history medication history, vital -signs, and other pertinent information such as diagnostic imaging

-Takes patient's vital signs and reports abnormal values to the provider

-Answer phones and schedule patients

-Requests medical records from outside sources and scans into the chart

-Maintains timely patient flow and room availability

-Scan medical records into the EMR

-Assist with scheduling procedures

-Accurately documents pertinent information to patient charts on EMR as well as medications ordered by providers

-Sends accurate and well-written messages to providers

-Assist with training and orientation of new staff

Preferred Education Requirements:

Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program

Certification in Medical Assisting (CMA)

Minimum Experience: 3+ years working in a Medical Practice.
