PROJECT MANAGER – Full Time (Hourly, Non-Exempt – In-Person)

Location: Irvine, CA

THE RUNDOWN:

Czar Press is a national leader in the niche world of letterpress printing. We collaborate with top graphic designers from across the country to bring their creative visions to life — because here, “You design it, we print it.”

We're looking for an awesome new team member who thrives at the intersection of creativity and organization. Someone who thinks like a designer, communicates like a leader, and navigates projects with the business sense of an entrepreneur.

We’re a small but mighty team that works hard and supports one another. If you’re ready to jump into a fast-paced, creative environment where your voice matters (and the espresso is always flowing), we’d love to meet you. When applying, please tell us: "What makes you awesome?"

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Project Manager at Czar Press, you’ll be the main point of contact for clients, guiding their projects from initial quote through final delivery. You’ll manage timelines, collaborate with our production team, and help ensure every job runs smoothly from start to finish.

Client Consultation & Communication

-Respond to inbound quote requests via email, phone, or in-person

-Gather information and understand each project's scope and goals

-Review and receive artwork; advise on print specs or potential issues

-Educate clients on best print practices and guide them toward solutions that match their vision and budget

Project Management:

-Order all materials needed for each job (e.g., paper, dies, boxes, foils, inks)

-Schedule each step of the production process in coordination with our team

-Communicate project needs, deadlines, and constraints internally to avoid production issues

Estimating:

-Offer creative solutions that meet clients' budgets and expectations

-Use our internal quoting matrix to generate accurate, transparent quotes

-Build and send estimates using QuickBooks Online

Pre-Production Artwork Handling:

-Prepare and verify print-ready files in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat

-Tasks may include outlining text, embedding images, adding crop marks, verifying size, grouping layers, and working with the Pantone Color System

Additional Duties:

-You may occasionally be asked to assist in other areas of production or general shop tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

-AA degree or equivalent experience in print production or project management

-Strong communication and customer service skills

-Highly organized with excellent follow-through and attention to detail

-Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

-Comfortable using Apple computers and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.)

-Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat

-Able to lift 25 lbs and occasionally climb a step ladder (up to 6 ft)

Bonus Points (Not Required, But a Plus):

-Previous administrative or project management experience

-Experience in the printing or stationery industry

-Coffee lover – we’ve got a proper espresso bar in-house

BENEFITS & PERKS:

-Matching 401(k) Plan (after 6-month vesting period)

-Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays

-Creative and collaborative work environment

-Access to top-tier printing tools and materials
