About the position
The Ophthalmic Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing the billing processes within an ophthalmology practice, ensuring accurate claim submissions, payment postings, and follow-ups on unpaid accounts. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health of the practice and requires strong communication and organizational skills. customers
Responsibilities
Generate and submit claims for ophthalmology services.
Post payments and submit electronic remittances as well as printed payers.
Verify each month balanced accounts and send out monthly statements.
Handle collections and accounts receivable follow-up.
Manage insurance appeals and respond to inquiries regarding patient account balances.
Monitor and report on the status of unpaid account balances.
Perform follow-up on unpaid balances, including correcting and resubmitting claims.
Prepare analysis of individual volumes, denials, and reimbursement activity.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge of and prior experience in ophthalmology and optometry billing including CPT, ICD-10, and modifiers.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently speak to patients.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks throughout the day.
Ability to communicate and work well with others in the office.
