Job Overview Part-Time Assistant – Help Chinese American Seniors Find & Apply for Affordable Housing.
We are the Chinese Housing Support Center, located in San Gabriel, CA. Our mission is to assist Chinese American seniors, age 55+ or 62+, in applying for government-subsidized senior housing.We are currently hiring three part-time assistants who are fluent in English and passionate about community service to join our team!
Duties
Assist our Chinese-speaking team in communicating with senior housing providers and government programs.
Make phone calls or send emails in English to verify application requirements and procedures.
Help translate and explain English application forms to Chinese-speaking clients.
Act as a communication bridge between elderly clients and institutions.
Conduct on-site visits to senior housing communities, if needed.
Qualifications
Fluent in Mandarin and English.
Patient, compassionate, and genuinely interested in helping elderly community members.
Comfortable working in a cross-cultural setting (knowledge of Chinese culture a plus).
Basic computer skills (email, document editing, online forms).
Prior experience in customer service, nonprofit work, or social services is a plus.
Work Details
Location: Hybrid – Remote work, San Gabriel office, and on-site visits to senior housing communities as needed
Schedule: Part-time, flexible hours
Pay: bonuses (to be discussed during interview)
Training: Provided; long-term collaboration encouraged
