Position Overview

The central role of the Research Associate will be to support CLRJ’s research activities and

projects. The Research Associate will work closely with our Director of Research and in

collaboration with Program Staff. The Research Associate will support the development of

original research work, recruitment of participants, implementation of research instruments,

data collection, analysis and dissemination of findings.

Duties and Responsibilities

● Work closely with the Director of Programs to ensure timely research projects

management, including advancement and implementation of all stated goals and

objectives.

● Support data collection and analysis; reporting and dissemination.

● Participate in investigator meetings and electronic correspondence to provide study

updates

● Support with drafting relevant project publications, including research and policy briefs,

fact sheets, and other materials “translating” research findings and recommendations

into accessible formats for key audiences.

● Collaborating closely with CLRJ’s Program Team to remain current concerning CLRJ’s

policy priorities and activities, including: attend local, state or national coalition

meetings/calls as needed; assist in building relationships with other organizations.

● Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required

All CLRJ employees are expected to fully support the organization’s mission in their work. Any

positions or work that runs counter to LGBTQ rights or Reproductive Justice - including the right to

access abortion and contraception, are likely to create a conflict of interest disqualifying an

employee from working at CLRJ. All employees regardless of their position are required to

support with staffing events, public speaking or disseminating information about people’s right

to access legal and safe abortion care and contraception, as assigned. It is also required that

all employees use messaging that is developed by CLRJ's Communications Team and that it is

factual, evidence-based, and free of judgment or discrimination when talking about all

Reproductive Justice issues, including LGBTQ rights, and the right to access abortion or

contraception when working or otherwise representing CLRJ.

● At least two 1-2 years experience in health policy or community health research

including project management, qualitative research design and implementation,

qualitative and quantitative data analysis

● Collaborate with a range of organizations and individuals

● Demonstrated experience and significant familiarity with Latina/e reproductive

and sexual health policy issues

● Passion for social and reproductive justice. Commitment to CLRJ’s mission and

values

● Must use initiative and be able to work independently

● Ability to work well under deadlines and high pressure situations

● Ability to handle multiple sensitive assignments in a timely manner

● Excellent listener and problem solver

● Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail

● Strong social, written, and verbal communication skills

● Experience with drafting and production of research reports, policy briefs, and

other communications materials

● Proficiency in speaking and reading in English and Spanish

● Demonstrated respect, effectiveness and appropriateness when working with a

wide range of cultural communities and intergenerational community groups

● Must be able to secure reliable transportation to work sites; a valid Driver’s

License and legally required car insurance, and access to a personal vehicle to

be used to conduct CLRJ business is preferred, but not required. If there are issues

Location and Classification

● This position is based in Los Angeles; some local and national travel may be required

● All staff currently work remotely with approximate monthly in person meetings.

● The employee must be available to work extended days in the evenings or weekends, as

needed

Compensation and Employee Benefits

● The hourly rate for this position ranges : $25/hr - $26.44/hr

● This is a full-time non-exempt position, working 40 hours a week
