We are seeking an independent, honest and hard-working Legal Assistant/Paralegal with the ability to work REMOTE for our Boutique Plaintiff’s Litigation Firm located in Huntington Beach, California.

Our office focuses on civil jury trials; so attention to detail, work ethic, and honesty are the most important attributes we are seeking. To qualify for this position, you must have 5-7 years’ strong experience in Civil Litigation, an understanding Personal Injury cases, and at least 2-3 years’ Case Management experience on the Plaintiff’s side. A paralegal certificate is preferable, but not required if your experience and work ethic match our high standards.

Given the REMOTE position, the ideal candidate will be an expert at using Microsoft 365 in a completely remote setting (Word, Outlook, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint). Knowledge of cloud-based case management programs is a must – prior use of FileVine is a plus. The candidate must know how to manage a litigation calendar as well as ‘soft deadlines’ related to pre-litigation matters, in-house calendar items, arbitrations, and mediations.

Job Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Working with the client’s medical providers and obtaining records.

Assisting the clients with questions related to their case.

Propounding and Responding to Discovery.

Sending Subpoenas.

Deposition Notices.

Calendaring.

Assisting attorneys with misc. clerical and office duties.

Job Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Communicating with clients and potential clients;

Preparing medical records requests, HIPAA authorizations, letters to insurance carriers, arbitration demands, medical summaries, and billing reports;

Obtaining facts and information from clients, witnesses, opposing parties, insurance carriers, and all manner of third parties;

Applying knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure, Rules of Court, and local court rules to overall case management;

Retaining, informing, and preparing expert witnesses and client’s medical providers for deposition and trial testimony;

Maintaining a law firm calendar and recording all important hearing and cutoff dates;

Preparing written discovery responses, including but not limited to obtaining documents and information from client, and finalizing for service on opposing law offices;

Maintaining, organizing, and memorializing firm costs after trial.
