OVERVIEW
Associate Justice Lamar Baker of the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Five, located in Los Angeles, is accepting applications for the position of Law Clerk. The Law Clerk position combines important legal editing and clerical duties with the opportunity to engage in traditional law clerk research and analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Engage in legal research and writing, including for appellate opinions, pending motions, and other matters;
Monitor all stages of case preparation and maintain case files;
Verify record references and legal citations in draft opinions;
Assist with legal, clerical, or administrative projects, including preparation of appellate opinions for circulation, filing legal documents, calendaring case deadlines, and scheduling meetings;
May need to work occasional evening hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
Admission to the State Bar of California and one year of administrative or clerical experience.
Participation in the California Provisional Bar Licensing Program may be substituted for Admission to the State Bar of California per the terms and conditions and within the time frame of that program.

Admission to the State Bar of California.
Admission to the State Bar of California. (Applicants who have not been admitted to the State Bar of California but who have graduated from law school may receive consideration for hiring as a Graduate Legal Assistant). Familiarity with citation form recommended by the California Style Manual is preferred.

PAY & BENEFITS
Salary Range: $6,059 to $7,362 per month
(starting salary will vary between $6,059 and $6,665)
Please note due to statewide fiscal conditions, the posted salary range is subject to a temporary 3% reduction. In exchange for this reduction, judicial branch employees accrue an additional 5 hours of paid personal leave per month through June 30, 2027.
