Seeking Private RN or LVN to work with only one client in her home
$63/hour; 40 hours/week
Location: Brentwood-Los Angeles
Shift 1: 6am – 2 pm
Shift 2: 2 pm – 10pm
Seeking RN (will consider LVN) to provide in-home care to a 20-year-old female client with a motor impairment. Seeking individuals with experience working with children and young adults with motor impairments, like Cerebral Palsy, who also use communication devices. Client is petite, weighing 92 lbs and standing 4’6” tall. This is a physical rehab type of situation that requires actively engaging with client at all times. Candidates must be physically strong (to ensure safety to self and client) and enjoy being on the go. Client assists in going from sit to stand and can walk with maximum support but requires care providers to be physically strong for her safety.
We have a fun, positive team that enjoys working together in harmony to care for client and bring joy to client’s home and life. This is not a rehab facility or hospital or hospice. This is an opportunity to work 1:1 with only one patient, supporting her in living her life to the fullest.
Duties include following the plan of care and working collaboratively with client’s team. Excellent opportunity to learn in a positive, rehab type of environment with exposure to an exceptional team of licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists and medical providers where you will be exposed to:
Medication Administration- daily medication administration, both orally and through an Ng tube.
Durable Medical Equipment- the proper use of durable medical equipment including stander, walker/gait trainer, vibrating platform, special needs bicycle, and bathing/toileting system.
Body kinetics- the right way to stretch the human body, proper positioning and alignment under a physical therapist’s guidance.
Nutrition- balanced meal preparation from scratch under nutritionist’s guidelines and fed orally. An Ng feeding tube is used to ensure sufficient daily liquid intake and easy administration of supplements and medications.
GI Health- Administration of daily enemas required and oral antacid
Pulmonary- If client is ill with a cold: Medications administered via a Nebulizer, followed by chest vest. Suction machine when needed. Bi-pap overnight for obstructive sleep apnea. Use of PulseOx at night as a safety precaution. Client does not desat.
Selfcare- bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming, toothbrushing, etc.
Assistive Technology- communication and supporting client when using an eye gaze communication system with voice output, with training from a communication expert.
Clean Up- Client needs to live in a clean, sanitary environment. Client’s supplies and home need to be kept clean and orderly. DME needs to be wiped down regularly, bed sheets washed, daily towel washing, client’s laundry, etc.
Community, Family, School, Appointments- Nursing provider will accompany client outside the home to appointments, college art classes, events and going to places of client’s interest.
Applicant Requirements:
Current RN or LVN license in the state of California
Current CPR certificate
Must pass trustline certification
Active California driver’s license and safe driving record
Positive attitude, willingness to learn and to be able to make a connection with client
Professional, cleanly, appropriately groomed
Able to safely transfer, lift and support a 92 lb, 4’5” female with mobility, including getting on the floor and administering stretching regimen
Fluent in English; patient speaks only English and all medications and protocol are in English as is her communication device
Comfortable with technology; client uses an eye gaze communication device, Ipad, cell phone for texting through eye gaze and various computer
