Assisted Living Healthcare Director

The Assisted Living Healthcare Director supports the facility and its team by ensuring overall compliance in the provision of direct care and services rendered, in accordance with facility policies, procedures, and professional standards of care.

Responsibilities:

Maintains current knowledge of and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations with on-going monitoring and review.

Has the ability to interact effectively, provide leadership and act as a role model for residents and facility staff.

Maintains current knowledge of resident status, census, personnel and other relevant information. Develops monthly schedules, covers requests for time off, monitors attendance, keeps Administrator informed and does daily staffing sheet.

Directly supervises the Resident Care Aides. Has oversight of the care and services provided, ensuring quality care, promoting the highest possible quality of life and creating an inviting homelike environment for all residents.

Demonstrates knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of every resident. Communicates with families and responsible parties as needed. Promptly reports all complaints, allegations and grievances.

Schedules and oversees resident bathing and activity of daily living, ensuring all resident needs are met. Monitors documentation by resident care aides.

Ensures completion of monthly weights and blood pressures in a timely manner. Records and compares results on the resident’s individual record, requests re-takes of any abnormal readings, and reports to DHCS for physician notification.

Ensures adequate supplies are available for resident care and treatment i.e. depends, linens, etc.

Completes initial training for assisting residents with the self administration of medications and attends on-going training to maintain ability to be a medication relief person if necessary at times of vacation and/or emergencies.

Attends to other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

Associate’s degree or equivalent with at least two years of relevant experience in an assisted living setting or in providing direct care to the elderly.

Has a current/unexpired First Aid Certification.

Must pass a physical examination and tuberculin test performed by a physician no more than six (6) months prior to, or within seven (7) days after hire.

Good communication, interpersonal and people skills. Able to speak and understand English well.

Basic Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook).

Has supervisory experience and skills. Able to handle stressful situations and work well in a team setting.

Strong attention to detail, highly-organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Displays good judgment and problem solving.

Willing to work nights and weekends, as needed, be on-call 24/7 and respond to all emergencies.

Strong ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal directions, along with the ability to establish and carry out priorities within established time frames.

Passionate about assisting the elderly by having an outgoing, positive and upbeat personality that brings liveliness to the community.

Mandated Reporter of any suspected elderly abuse, neglect and/or harassment (e.g., physical, mental, sexual, etc.).
