JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT – GENERAL
DEPARTMENT: ACCOUNTING
REPORTS TO: ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR
JOB SUMMARY: PERFORMS ACCOUNTING AND CLERICAL WORK IN THE PREPARATION AND MAINTENANCE OF ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLES & PAYABLE; THE GENERAL LEDGER.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Performs a variety of technical and clerical duties involved in the processing of accounts receivable, the general ledger and reconciliation of various accounts; coordinates and verifies accounts receivable-related computer input and output; assigns coding as necessary
Computes and interprets miscellaneous forms of accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger transactions
Computes and prepares all adjustments as necessary for accounts receivable, accounts payable and the general ledger
Prepares special reports and schedules required by auditors and other departments
Performs related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Associates Degree or equivalent supplemented by courses in accounting and business practices and three years of experience in maintenance of financial, fiscal, and other statistical records, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of methods and practices used in financial and statistical work
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
Skilled in preparing accurate financial and statistical reports and maintain records
Skilled in communicating clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
Skilled in making arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy
Skilled in operating a calculator and other common office machines
Must provide all necessary documents required by the government for employment
