Job Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Retail Manager to oversee operations for our retail shop, ensuring smooth scheduling, product sell-through, revenue growth, team development, and compliance with regulations. This full-time role requires a hands-on leader who can cover shifts as needed, inspire our team, and deliver outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and passionate about Humboldt’s local culture, with a preference for knowledge of the cannabis industry (though not required).
Responsibilities
-Scheduling & Shift Coverage: Create and maintain staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage. Cover shifts as needed to support the team during peak hours or staff shortages.
-Inventory Management and Product Sell-Through: Monitor and proactively manage inventory levels, manage product displays, and implement strategies to ensure consistent sell-through of merchandise, minimizing overstock and stockouts.
-Revenue Growth: Drive sales through effective merchandising, promotions, and exceptional customer service. Develop strategies to increase foot traffic and repeat customers.
-Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor staff to foster a positive, customer-focused team culture. Conduct performance reviews and support professional growth.
-Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and retail standards. Maintain accurate records for audits.
-Customer Service Excellence: Lead by example to deliver outstanding customer experiences, resolving issues promptly and building strong community relationships.
-Operational Oversight: Manage daily operations, including cash handling, inventory tracking, and store upkeep, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment.
-Community Engagement: Represent our shop in the Humboldt community, participating in local events and promotions to strengthen brand presence.
Qualifications
Experience:
-2+ years of retail management experience, with a proven track record of driving sales and leading teams.
-Strong customer service experience, with skills in conflict resolution and building customer loyalty.
Skills:
-Proficient in scheduling, inventory management, and POS systems.
-Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer and staff interactions.
-Basic financial acumen for tracking revenue, margins, and expenses.
-Lead by positive example
Knowledge: Familiarity with Humboldt County’s local culture and retail scene. Knowledge of the cannabis industry is preferred but not required.
Reliability: Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, to cover shifts and meet business needs.
