Desired qualifications: Experience working with children in a group setting, knowledge of local flora and fauna, reliable transportation, and willingness to transport kids to and from nature settings in a school vehicle, comfortable getting dirty and wet, willingness to get training in outdoor education, CPR, and first aid. This is a part-time position, 27.5 hrs a week at $18.50 an hour.
Skills and duties that will be assessed as part of being a member of our team:
Works with students outdoors in all weather. Engages with students in outdoor activities and adventures.
Travels with students to community classes or outdoor locations.
Observes and collects data on student learning.
Works well in team situations. Consistent attendance is a must.
Is willing to receive training in Forest School Practices and Restorative Practices.
Ensures student safety by close supervision, and awareness of the environment.
Communicates effectively with parents.
Demonstrates and models community skills in mediation, mindfulness, and restorative justice.
Effectively and kindly handles discipline, as well as supports teachers in collaborative discipline and opportunities for student self-reflection.
