Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our IC, DoD, and civilian customers.

This position is a hybrid work model and can sit partially remotely with some onsite work in El Segundo, CA.

What You'll Be Doing

Be a part of the inception of the USSF becoming a digital force. Bring an innovative and dedicated mindset to create M&S capabilities and leverage the benefits of Digital Engineering to help the USSF (and other National Security Space customers) enter the digital age.
  • Aerospace support to USSF organizations in the areas of MBSE/Digital Engineering have been featured in news media articles including:

  • Support a wide variety of space program customers as both a developer (algorithm and software development) and an analyst (setting up and executing batch simulation runs, custom post processing, drawing trends and insights) for M&S in the areas of:
    • Space performance (Space Domain Awareness, SIGINT, Special Comms, Directed Energy, Rendezvous and Proximity Operations)
    • Resiliency (Counterspace, architecture robustness/redundancy)
    • Multi-domain military operations (air and sea domains)
    • Enterprise (cross-mission)
  • Work closely with industry leading engineers and scientists in the development of maintainable, high performance applications and M&S capabilities
  • Continuous learning in new areas of innovative next generation space programs, missions and analysis tools to analyze complex enterprise-level problems
  • Work in/across teams on innovative ways to apply the latest computing technology (Distributed Frameworks, Cloud, AI/ML, Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering, DevSecOps) to M&S
  • Deliver timely completion of developed capability and analysis efforts
  • Deliver high-quality reports and briefings, and present recommendations to customers and Aerospace management

This position can be filled as a Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer or Sr. Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer
  • Bachelors or advanced degree from an accredited program in mathematics, computer science, aerospace engineering or related field
  • Two or more years of experience in algorithm development and analysis
  • Experience in algorithm development, modeling, and simulation
  • Experience with scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python
  • Experience with batch simulation set up and script development for post processing
  • Experience in C, C, and/or object-oriented languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team and manage multiple simultaneous tasks
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, self-motivation and willingness to take initiative
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

Minimum Requirements for Sr. Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer
  • All of the above requirements for Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer
  • Five or more years of experience in algorithm development and analysis

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Advanced degree from an accredited program in mathematics, computer science, aerospace engineering or related field
  • Current/active Top Secret/SCI clearance is highly desired
  • Familiarity with space architecture and mission areas
  • Experience in orbital mechanics, orbit determination, geolocation techniques, or satellite communications
  • Experience in practicing professional software development processes
  • Experience in distributed frameworks and API development
  • Experience in multi-domain military operation research/simulation
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering and Cameo Enterprise Architect
