El Buen Pastor Mexican Restaurant, a beloved local spot known for our authentic flavors and vibrant atmosphere, is seeking an experienced and passionate Restaurant Manager to lead our team!
This is a hands-on management role for a natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of food, service, and team culture.
About You:
You are more than a manager; you are a leader. You have a genuine love for Mexican cuisine and culture. You're organized, proactive, and lead by example. Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Leadership: Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures. Manage and motivate front-of-house and back-of-house staff. Lead pre-shift meetings.
Customer Service: Ensure every guest has an exceptional dining experience. Address customer feedback and complaints promptly and professionally.
Financials: Assist with inventory ordering, control, and management. Monitor food and labor costs to meet budgetary goals. Manage cash handling and daily sales reports.
Staffing & Scheduling: Create fair and compliant staff schedules using your understanding of California overtime and meal/rest break laws. Participate in hiring, training, and development of team members.
Quality Control: Uphold our high standards for food preparation, presentation, and cleanliness. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations (SERV Safe certified a plus).
Marketing & Growth: Support local marketing initiatives and help develop strategies to increase sales and community engagement.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Must have a minimum of 3-5years of restaurant management experience.
Must have a valid California Food Handler Card.
Extensive, proven knowledge of California labor laws is non-negotiable. This includes, but is not limited to:
o Wage and Hour Laws (Minimum Wage, Overtime, Exempt/Non-Exempt Status)
o Meal and Rest Break Requirements
o Sick Leave Laws (AB 1522)
o Proper Employee Classification
o Harassment Prevention Training requirements (AB 1825)
Strong financial acumen with experience in inventory, cost control, and P&L understanding.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (Bilingual Spanish are a huge plus!).
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and late nights as required.
A positive, can-do attitude and a strong work ethic.
