In this job, you will develop your skills working with the SCE power system configuration, control system database and display editing tools and gain detailed understanding of the SCE grid operation, substation construction and maintenance and engineering business processes. You will maintain the control system databases and displays as related to SCE's Transmission and Distribution Operations, Engineering and several other T&D businesses.As a SCADA Control System Associate Specialist , your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Projects - Collaborate with PSC (Power System Controls) Infrastructure Engineers and other PSC groups for implementing the T&D Capital Infrastructure replacement jobs and automation projects. Perform configuration of the control system/SCADA databases and construction (linking) of the real time single lines and overview displays used by the T&D Operations and Engineering groups for control, monitor and maintaining of the electric grid. Maintenance - Analyze and provide recommendations to address database and display issues as they relate to the operation. Either implement or work with the maintenance team to implement tools and utilities in order to enhance and automate the generation of databases, displays, real time calculations and configuration of devices. Establish standards for database and display convention, layout and organization.

Support - Be responsible for tier one service desk function and the handling of all service requests from T&D Operations.

Client Facing - Conduct site visits to switching centers and other client sites to gather their feedback and provide refresh training with user interfaces and control system applications that are applicable to the users.

Safety, Standard and Compliance - Ensure the database and displays used by T&D groups are maintained accurately and according to the standard as well as adhere to policies and in compliance with NERC and FERC.

Decision Making Impact - Make daily decisions affecting the implementation of the database and displays to the T&D Operations. You will meet regularly with business to gather feedback and provide them with refresh training. It is critical for you to be thorough, handle requests independently and conduct work in an accurate manner, due to the safety and reliability impact to the control and monitoring of the electric grid.

The essentials

Experience with operating systems, IT networks, and/or relational databases (oracle, SQL Server).

The preferred

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science (or other STEM related field) from an accredited institution.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications such as: Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint.

Prior experience performing database and display work or related functions.

You should know

This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

Alternate Work Schedule This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40hrs/5 days a week.

Relocation does not apply to this position.
