Within the Sample Preparation Department, the Sample Preparation Technician 2 will work with client samples (primarily minerals and mining materials) to prepare them for laboratory analysis.Job Duties Drying, crushing, splitting, pulverizing, sieving (including International Soils) Loading and unloading drying ovens Maintaining production logs General cleaning duties for maintaining basic lab cleanliness Inspecting equipment and informing senior staff if adjustment is required Ensuring analytical quality Observe established safety regulations and comply with all health and safety policies and proceduresRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Good hand-eye coordination Good organizational skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team Basic alpha/numeric comprehension Basic English communication skills (written and verbal)Required Qualifications Prior work experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or minerals sample preparation highly preferred Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time Ability to work in a hot and dusty environment Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks Ability to lift up to 50lbs; (occasionally lifting may exceed 50lbs and assistance is mandatory from either another employee or the lift assist equipment) Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities Will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the majority of the shift including steel toe shoes/boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respiratorPay$19.68/hrSchedules/ShiftsAll employees will train on a Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM scheduleAfter training, the schedule will be Monday - Friday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AMAbout Actalent Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
