Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.It’s More Than a Job, it’s a Career - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wf0PVJdUOWo)Job Summary:Caterpillar’s Hydraulic Mining Shovels (HMS), a department within RIOP Division is currently seeking a Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) Supervisor to provide leadership in the deployment of the CPI process for the HMS products to be located at the Caterpillar Tucson Mining Center in Tucson, AZ.Our experienced, passionate and international team develops and implements product improvements for our Hydraulic Shovels working closely with Caterpillar design engineers, service engineers, supply chain partners, manufacturing facilities, field representatives and dealers.As a CPI Supervisor at Caterpillar HMS, this position is accountable for managing and developing Caterpillar human resource to perform disciplined and rigorous CPI process activities and to specifically sponsor a number of CPI projects through the 6 Sigma DMAIC process. Lead a global team of 6 Sigma Black Belts, Warranty Analyst, and a Service Publication Technical Writer for the Hydraulic Mining Shovel product group

Maximize the customer experience of machine uptime through the execution of targeted Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) DMAIC projects.

Analyze, define and prioritize product problems; create, initiate and update product issues, initiate and update project plan; implement interim repair; define root cause; develop and validate solution; implement permanent repair action; identify process(es) that produced the defect; verify solution and process revisions fix problem.

Manage all aspects of the machine product health KPI’s including Defects per Unit, Inoperable Defects, Defect Free, Warranty, and Goodwill spending for the Hydraulic Mining Shovel business

Charters and/or sponsors Black Belt projects focused on product health (10-15 projects per BB / per year).

Develops and deploys change plans and effectively communicates CPI process changes across assigned functional areas.

Influences upstream (Dealer data collection, NPI, Manufacturing, Procurement) and downstream processes (Dealer repair process) to improve quality of input and ensure modification of upstream processes to reduce future product failures.

Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.Project Management : Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.Level Working Knowledge: Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status. Supports guidance for project management to team and maintains project budgets. Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects. Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements. Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project. Produces standard project status reports.
