Job Description:
The Production Manager has a wide range of duties and will be considered a master-of-all-trades. In general, this role will include aspects of operational management, cannabis formulation processes, manufacturing/packaging a wide range of cannabis products, and overall business administration. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume facility that caters to established and emerging Arizona cannabis brands. This job will require you to effectively problem solve, prioritize, and stay flexible in an ever-changing environment. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate adaptability and a high stress tolerance.
The primary job function assists with overseeing facility operations. This includes ensuring that client recipes and standard operating procedures are followed, facility sanitation and cleanliness is maintained, and product flow for high-volume cannabis products is effectively managed. The Production Manager will supervise hourly production staff, assist with hiring, and ensure all employees undergo required training. You must be able to successfully complete tasks and work autonomously throughout the day. Strong organizational skills are mandatory, as the facility will produce large quantities of product under tight time constraints.
Other responsibilities will include data input, quality control, and compliance assurance. The Production Manager will be expected to assist on the production floor and run equipment lines, if necessary. This is an exciting job opportunity at the ground floor of a new, best-in-class cannabis production operation.
Responsibilities:
Facility Management:
- Ensures that all production and packaging spaces meet state and local health code requirements
- Maintains clean, safe, and sanitary work environment
- Assists with supply management and safeguards against low inventory
- Receives incoming supplies and food orders and operates on a FIFO basis
Edibles Production & Flower Packing:
- Works with Director of Operations to understand daily/weekly production schedules, product line mix, and quantities
- Assists with physical preparation and packaging of various cannabis-infused products (gummies, chocolates, prerolls, vape cartridges, etc.)
- Responsible for ensuring adherence to client recipes and SOPs
- Responsible for ensuring quality control and assurance on all products
General:
- Assists upper-level management with overall facility operation
- Completes required documentation and data entry to ensure compliance with internal and state regulatory requirements
- Maintains inventory and production records, as required
- Assists with implementation of internal and external audits and inspections, from client brands to state officials
- First-line responsibility for ensuring compliance for all products, waste, and other controls
- Manages, schedules, and trains hourly production staff
- Assists with development of training documents, standard operating procedures, and other policies that guide productivity, quality, and cost efficiency of operations
- Leads the deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality an continuous improvement
Qualifications:
General Qualifications:
- Previous cannabis experience strongly preferred, but not required
- 2+ years’ previous kitchen, lab, or manufacturing facility experience required
- 2+ years’ experience of relevant management experience required (10+ team members)
- Knowledge of quality standards and health and safety regulations (Please note: candidate will be required to obtain Food Safety Manager certificate, if not already possessed.)
- Demonstrated computer literacy working with Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and ERPs
- College degree strongly preferred, HS diploma/GED required
- Must be over 21 and pass a criminal background check
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license

Required Physical Attributes:
- Must be able to complete repetitive motions that may include wrists, hands, or fingers
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Must be okay with potential exposure to peanuts, dairy, food allergens, dust, pollen, and plant pathogens
- Must be able to withstand loud and noises, including but not limited to air compressors, packaging equipment, and alarms
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
