Job Overview:As the Senior Staff Accountant, you will manage the accounting and financial reporting for a diverse group of homeowner associations. You will prepare financial statements, record necessary journal entries, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, create supporting schedules/analysis and ensure GAAP compliance.Your Responsibilities:
Create and process general ledger journal entries to support monthly financial close process
Review financial statements and act as liaison to clients and property managers accounts
Reconcile balance sheet account and complete supporting schedules monthly
Support budget process and create ad hoc financial analysis/reporting
Interact with AR, AP and banking departments to ensure appropriate activity is complete, variances analyzed and issues corrected
Review and respond timely and professionally to questions and concerns by board members, and ensure complex accounting issues are handled timely and accurately
Attend meetings as required to provide accounting assistance to community boards and committees
Adhere to accounting close checklist so that final reporting packages can be sent on time and accurately
Perform necessary month-end duties (recording cash transfers, budget transfers and AR/AP journal entries, validate bad debt J/E adjustments, etc.)
Maintain financial computer information files in a systematic and orderly manner
Skills and Qualifications:
A thorough understanding and proficiency in managing accrual basis accounting
Proficiency in Accounting software (I.e., Sage, Jenark, Yardi, etc.)
Highly proficient with MS Office applications with considerable skill in leveraging Excel
Detail oriented
Exceptional interpersonal skills resulting
Outstanding communication skills
Tremendous listener with the ability to diffuse tense situations
Able to work collaboratively and cooperatively
Superb judgment and decision-making skills
Able to prioritize and adjust to incoming demands
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field highly preferred
Accounting Experience: 5+ Years of progressive accounting experience
HOA Industry or Related Experience (Preferred)
Physical Requirements:
Sit/stand for extended time periods
Use of keyboard, calculator, scanners, bank scanners
Use of computer, internet, intranet, video training, meetings
Capable of working extended hours as necessary
Able to work in-office as we are currently not offering remote work
