POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Remodeling Carpenter who excels in both rough and finish carpentry for luxury residential projects. This role combines advanced technical skills with leadership responsibilities, requiring someone who can execute flawless craftsmanship while mentoring team members and maintaining the highest standards our discerning clients expect.

The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, has an eye for detail that meets luxury market expectations, and thrives in a collaborative environment where quality is never compromised.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Excellence (50%)

Read and interpret complex architectural drawings, blueprints, and engineered plans

Execute high-end finish carpentry including crown molding, baseboards, custom trim, and detailed wood finishes

Perform rough carpentry tasks including framing walls, ceilings, door/window openings, and structural components

Install doors, windows, and custom cabinetry with precision and attention to detail

Complete intricate trim work and millwork that meets luxury standards

Perform final punch list items with meticulous attention to quality and detail

Maintain expertise in multiple trades: light plumbing, electrical, HVAC, tile preparation, and painting

Leadership & Team Management (25%)

Lead and mentor journeyman and apprentice carpenters

Coordinate daily tasks and ensure team productivity

Provide training on new techniques, processes, and Sunstate standards

Ensure quality control through regular inspection of team and subcontractor work

Foster a collaborative team environment aligned with Sunstate culture

Project Coordination (15%)

Collaborate directly with superintendent and project managers to maintain schedules

Coordinate effectively with subcontractors and other trades

Move efficiently between multiple projects to meet daily objectives and timelines

Prepare daily with appropriate materials, tools, and manpower to meet project goals

Use project management software to document daily progress with photo updates

Client Relations & Communication (10%)

Communicate professionally with clients regarding work status and project updates

Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites that reflect Sunstate's professional image

Represent Sunstate's values and "Sunstate Way" in all client interactions

Address client questions with knowledge and professionalism

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Arrive prepared with appropriate tools and materials for scheduled tasks

Maintain organized company vehicle with inventory of tools and consumables

Lead daily team coordination and task assignments

Execute high-quality carpentry work that meets luxury standards

Conduct quality control inspections throughout the day

Document progress and communicate with superintendent

Ensure job site safety and cleanliness standards

Mentor team members and provide skill development guidance

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Competitive hourly wage: $28-$35/hour (based on experience and skill level)

Company vehicle provided with fuel paid (after 90-day probation)

Comprehensive tool package - all major tools and equipment provided

4-day work week (Monday-Thursday, 10-hour shifts)

PTO/PSTO accrued hourly

15-minute paid breaks, unpaid lunch

Overtime opportunities as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 7+ years hands-on experience in residential remodeling and carpentry

Proven expertise in both rough and finish carpentry

Demonstrated leadership experience managing tasks and small teams

Exceptional skills in detailed finish carpentry and trim work

Excellent understanding of construction drawings and structural layout

Experience with luxury/high-end residential projects preferred

Valid Arizona Driver's License with clean driving record (no moving violations in past 3 years)

Ability to pass background check

Smartphone with internet access for project management software

Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds without restrictions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience with custom millwork and specialty fabrication

Knowledge of luxury materials and installation techniques

Familiarity with JobTread or similar project management software

Experience working with designers and high-end clientele

Additional trade certifications (plumbing, electrical, etc.)

Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish)
