Title: Store Front Lead

Work Schedule: Part-time Mon - Thurs 8 am – 4 pm, with option to work 8 am – 1 pm

Salary DOE $18 - $22 per hour

Company Intro:

The Southeast Alaska Food Bank (SEAFB) is a 503(c) non-profit organization which focuses on providing food to local non-profits (membership agencies), individuals, and families in need. We coordinate pick-ups from our local grocery stores and food distributors, then disburse this food on-site through our store front and weekly public food pantries. We are currently building an on-site warehouse to expand our reach and our capacity to offer Federal food commodity grant programs. The need for food has risen in recent years and continues to rise so a lot of exciting things are happening at SEAFB to keep up with this demand!

Responsibilities:

The Store Front Lead is responsible for

Stocking shelves, refrigerators, and freezers with available food through-out the day.

Check drop box for donations, log the weight and places donation items on shelves.

Assist shoppers, answer their questions, and oversee logging the weigh-out process.

Sort through breads, sweets, produce, and dairy checking for expired products which must be disposed of or composted.

Wipe down surfaces and keep store in neat tidy appearance. Clean refrigerators and freezers when needed and ensure trash is taken out timely.

Oversee and assign tasks to any store front volunteers.

Qualifications:

SEAFB is happy to provide training in any areas needed!

Strong customer service skills: A friendly and approachable demeanor to assist our customers.

Strong organizational abilities: Manage inventory, prioritize tasks, and maintain a clean and organized store front environment.

Excellent communication skills: Comfortable interacting with diverse groups of people, including customers, clients and volunteers.

Physical Stamina is a plus: This position at times lifts heavy boxes of food. We have carts and volunteers to assist as well.

Food Safety Knowledge: Basic understanding of food safety practices and willingness to adhere to all relevant health and safety guidelines.

High School Diploma or GED.

Previous experience in retail, hospitality or similar customer-facing role is a plus!
