Title: Driver and Warehouse Lead

Work Schedule: Part-time Mon - Thurs 8 am – 2 pm; Option to also work Thurs 2 – 5:30 for public pantry

Salary DOE: $20 - $23 per hour

Company Intro:

The Southeast Alaska Food Bank (SEAFB) is a 503(c) non-profit organization which focuses on providing food to local non-profits (membership agencies), individuals, and families in need. We coordinate pick-ups from our local grocery stores and food distributors, then disburse this food on-site through our store front and weekly public food pantries. We are currently building an on-site warehouse to expand our reach and our capacity to offer Federal food commodity grant programs. The need for food has risen in recent years and continues to rise so a lot of exciting things are happening at SEAFB to keep up with this demand!

Responsibilities:

The Driver and Warehouse Lead is responsible for:

Daily drive the van to pick-up food donations from local stores.

Weigh food inventory in and out of the warehouse, ensuring the logs are complete and accurate.

Keep van ready for daily pick-ups by fueling, cleaning, and filling with empty crates.

Sweep and mop the warehouse floor and take the recycling to the dump when needed.

Operate the warehouse equipment including the forklift and the straddle stacker to move food inventory in and out or around the warehouse as needed. Training will be provided!

Oversee and assign tasks to any assigned volunteers.

Qualifications:

SEAFB is happy to provide training in any areas needed!

Valid Driver License and Safety Awareness: Clean driving record and commitment to maintain a safe work environment while driving and loading/unloading food.

Physical Fitness: This position lifts heavy boxes of food, often weighing 40 or more pounds. We have carts and volunteers to assist as well.

Attention to Detail: Accuracy in inventory management, including receiving, sorting, and organizing food items in and out of warehouse.

Organization and Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage store pick-up schedules, and coordinate logistics for efficient operations.

Food Safety Knowledge: Basic understanding of food safety practices and willingness to adhere to all relevant health and safety guidelines.

Commitment to our Mission! A genuine desire to make a positive impact in our community and alleviate food insecurity.

High School Diploma or GED.

Previous experience driving a commercial vehicle such as a van or box truck is a plus!

Previous warehouse experience is a plus!
