Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Foreman to oversee and perform construction projects in the Anchorage area and remote rural Alaskan villages. The Project Foreman will work under the supervision of the Project Supervisor and play a vital role in managing project execution, coordinating resources, and ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This position requires strong leadership abilities, adaptability to diverse environments, and a deep understanding of construction practices in both urban and rural settings. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong technical skills and a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Project Planning and Coordination:

- Collaborate with Project Supervisor and General Manager to develop comprehensive project plans tailored to the specific requirements of urban and rural construction projects.

- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and local stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and resource availability.

- Account for unique logistical challenges, such as transportation and supply chain constraints, in project planning.

Construction Methods and Techniques:

- A thorough understanding of various construction methods and techniques is essential.

- Participate in demolition activities, including removing existing structures and materials as required.

- Knowledge of concrete work, framing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, and finishing work. Familiarity with both traditional and modern construction practices ensures the successful execution of diverse projects.

On-Site Supervision:

- Lead on-site construction teams in the Anchorage area and rural Alaskan villages, ensuring that work progresses according to schedule and quality standards.

- Conduct regular site visits to remote locations, overseeing activities and providing guidance to meet project objectives. Overnight stays away from home may be necessary.

- Address logistical challenges and adapt construction strategies to suit the environmental and geographical conditions of rural Alaskan villages.

Resource Management:

- Manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and labor for construction projects, considering the logistical complexities of remote locations.

- Optimize resource utilization to maximize efficiency while adhering to project budgets and timelines.

- Coordinate with local suppliers and vendors to source materials and services, fostering positive relationships within the community.

Quality Assurance:

- Implement stringent quality control measures to uphold construction standards and meet client expectations in both urban and rural settings.

- Conduct thorough inspections of workmanship and materials, promptly identifying and addressing deficiencies.

- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards in all project locations.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

- Serve as the primary point of contact for communication between project teams, clients, regulatory agencies, and local communities.

- Accurately track work time, job materials and input into Company’s database.

- Provide clear and concise updates on progress, challenges, and recommendations to supervisor and project team.

- Facilitate effective communication channels, considering cultural sensitivities and language differences in rural Alaskan villages.

- Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for construction projects.

Safety Compliance:

- Prioritize safety in all construction activities, enforcing adherence to safety protocols and regulations in accordance with state and federal standards.

- Conduct regular safety training sessions for project teams, emphasizing the unique hazards and challenges of working in rural Alaskan environments.

- Take proactive measures to mitigate risks and ensure the well-being of all workers, regardless of project location.

Qualifications and Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training is preferred.

- Active driver’s license.

- Proven experience as a Project Foreman or similar role in the construction industry, with a track record of successfully managing projects in both urban and rural settings.

- Deep understanding of construction practices, logistical challenges, and regulatory requirements specific to Alaska, including familiarity with local building codes and regulations.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams in diverse environments, including remote villages with limited resources.

- Physical strength and stamina to perform physically demanding tasks.

- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.

- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

- Familiarity with construction tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments.

- Proficiency in technology, use of smart phone, laptop, familiar with general computer applications such as Word, Excel, web-based browsers.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and safety protocols.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced construction professionals.

- Flexibility to travel frequently, adapt to different work environments, work on-call, overtime, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour DOE

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

- Day shift

- Monday to Friday

- On call

- Overtime

- Weekends as needed
