Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This position is represented by the Public Employees, Local 71 and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and Public Employees, Local 71.DEPARTMENT: Parks and RecreationHOURS OF WORK: Hours vary: Schedule and Shifts Vary: Monday thru SundayLOCATION: 12001 Business Blvd., Eagle River Example of DutiesIn general, this position performs park maintenance tasks of semi-skilled nature in parks, on trails, Municipal grounds and facilities. Responsible for leading and giving general direction to other Park Caretakers, Provide department event support, and safety instruction to staff. Operate various types of maintenance equipment such as trucks, mowers, plows, sanders, trailers, loader, trackless and other equipment and tools as assigned. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and one (1) year experience as a Parks Caretaker I or the equivalent. Must possess a valid State of Alaska driver's license at time of hirePreferences:

Experience in operating various types of maintenance equipment and tools and leading staff.

Additional Important InformationIf selected for hire, applicant must be capable of bending, twisting, and kneeling. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration. Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach proof of current service to the application. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual’s command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service.
