Position Summary:Multicultural Student Services seeks a temporary employee to assist in the planning and delivery of our BIPOC Initiatives and Global Seawolves programs. MSS serves students with marginalized identities including those who identify as Black, African American, Indigenous, Native American, Hispanic and Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, multiracial, or mixed heritage, LGBTQ2s+ students, students of minoritized religions, and international students. The ideal candidate is a natural collaborator who brings excitement, creativity, and a student-centered approach in developing programs and initiatives in the areas of community & belonging, student success, social justice education, and leadership development.Demonstrated experience working with communities or students with marginalized identities.Demonstrated experience in and commitment to racial and social justice, advocacy, andeducational programming. Experience in event planning, marketing and promotion. Ability tomentor, motivate, and encourage students is required.Experience working with communities or students with marginalizedidentities. Demonstrated experience in and commitment to racial and social justice, advocacy,and event planning.Minimum Qualifications: High school graduation and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination oftraining and experience.Additional training on institutional policies and privacy laws regarding access to studentrecords and other sensitive institutional information (e.g., Family Educational Rights andPrivacy Act, minors on campus and Title IX will be necessary.Preferred Experience: Experience in an higher education setting with a focus on a combination of thefollowing: community building, student leadership development, and developingdiversity/social justice-focused programs. Experience working with or knowledge of socialmedia and marketing platforms. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated experience working with marginalized communities with a focus in socialjustice, educational programming, community building, program planning and/or advocacy.Bachelor’s degree in higher education administration, student personnel services, counseling,psychology, education, or other closely related discipline from an accredited institution ofhigher education.Position Details: This position is located on the UA campus in Anchorage.
