General Qualifications for the Position:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably education-related

Teaching certificate highly preferred

Experience with differentiated instruction in multiple disciplines, including Adult Education

Ability to teach students of different ages, cultures, and abilities

Professional, approachable, and friendly demeanor

Willingness to follow Adult Education policies and procedures

Collaborative, team-oriented philosophy

Organized, able to prioritize tasks and manage virtual and in-person classrooms with minimal supervision

Excellent time-management skills, flexibility, dependability, and punctuality

Ability, Desire, & Willingness to:

Teach reading, writing, math, social studies, and science content areas as specified

Understand and follow Adult Education standards, disciplines, and curricula

Administer educational assessments and interpret results

Identify specific learning objectives based on the results of assessments and pre-tests

Understand the barriers facing Nine Star’s at-risk student population

Guide, motivate, and support students as they set goals, and track their progress toward those goals

Complete the yearly required professional development hours in a timely fashion

Assist in course development as needed

Promote work-readiness activities in conjunction with basic skills/academic progress

Basic Duties of the Adult Education Instructor:

Teach specified content areas via distance and in-person classes

Facilitate study halls and workshops

Administer and/or Interpret TABE/GED test results to identify students’ needs and design appropriate study programs

Maintain contact with students regarding attendance, goals, post-testing, and all program requirements

Manage student information in the State database, to include attendance, scores, case notes, etc.

Attend professional development and training webinars, conferences, and in-service days in accordance with State and program requirements

Other duties as assigned
