These markets include aerospace and defense, factory automation, air and water quality environmental monitoring, electronics design and development, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, medical imaging and pharmaceutical research.​We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins.Job DescriptionJob Summary:The OPS Lead position has three basic elements, technical understanding of the jobs being performed by the Console Support Team, administrative duties (for both NASA and COLSA) and mentoring of the controller team. The Ops Lead provides two vital roles within the Console Support Team. He/she is responsible for ensuring consistency and continuity across all crews/shifts, serves as the point-of-contact for the team and acts as a liaison between the console crews and NASA/COLSA management. The Ops Lead sets controller performance standards and enforces them across all teams: coordinating the activities of all crews to meet the requirements for operations, training and administrative duties. He must work with the crew chiefs to provide them any necessary help to meet their responsibilities. Ensure staffing is adequate to meet the requirements of each shift. Ensures scheduling of time-off is fair and does not adversely affect operations standards. Ensures performance reviews are consistent between crews. Provide promotion recommendations to Operations Manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (other duties may be assigned):

Coordinates procedure development for both internal operations and between the CST and external organizations ensuring the procedures are complete and correct.

Ensures current procedures are evaluated for correctness and updated as needed, new procedures are created and outdated procedures are removed.

Provides planning for short-term mission accomplishment along with incorporating upcoming tasks, as well as long-range planning.

Monitors console logs and Incident Reports to identify training deficiencies.

Monitors and reports new hire certification progress and levies controller recertification requirements.

Works with Training Lead to provide training opportunities for Console Operator growth.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As manager of the DOCR facility, the Ops Lead has the responsibility for ensuring that operations and facility equipment needs are evaluated and requested for the team of 18 controllers, 3 OE’s, 2 MOPS and a helpdesk manager.

Administratively, the OPS Lead is the manager over all Crew Chiefs and Indirect Manager overall crews. As the group has expanded, so have the administrative tasks needed to be performed by the CST Lead.

The Ops Lead function has been expanded to include the managerial tasks of writing reviews, completing merit raise paperwork, approving timesheets, writing raise requests and promotion referrals.

The OPS Lead also has disciplinary responsibilities and must ensure that all personnel actions are fair and consistent. The CST lead is now an official manager of a team of 26 including 4 other managers.

The Ops Lead must have an operations background to be able to provide mentoring for the crews. One of the tasks is to teach correct ops protocol and standards so the MSFC team is performing in a similar manner to other operations teams. This includes being able to teach the reasoning behind intercenter procedures, logging and reporting.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP Software.Position may require one or more of the following (Site/CBU Specific):Other Essential Duties

Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.

Other Skills and Abilities

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen

Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)

Other Qualifications

US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.

Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately +/-10%
