This office coordinates VBA's responses tovarious congressional requests for planning information and subsequent achievements through reports.ResponsibilitiesPrepare clear, accurate, and concisely written documents representing complex and dynamic issues addressed to Veterans and their beneficiaries.Edits VBA documents for clarity, brevity, accuracy, in adherence with the Plain Writing Act of 2010.Makes sure information presented is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.Maintains broad knowledge of graphics and ensures proper presentation of graphics in products based on the psychology of effective visual communication, as needed.Conducts verbal and written interviews with subject matter experts, writers, and trainees who possess diverse educational levels.Compares text with approved outlines, concepts, and current or revised doctrine, rewriting as necessary to correct errors.Considers target audience and determines the best style and manner for presentation of the material.Prepares documents and formal submissions for Executives and Senior Executives.Consults with clients throughout the writing process to ensure end product is aligned with client needs and request.Conducts relevant research to support writing assignments.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/07/2020. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: GS-13: Advanced knowledge of standard English grammar and usage, skill in applying rules of standard English usage and correcting grammatical errors ability to explain and defend grammatical changes, advanced knowledge of editing methods and practices, familiarity with established reference manuals and guidelines, ability to ensure consistency of style within a document and to mechanically edit rough-draft material. GS-14: Advanced knowledge of standard English grammar and usage, skill in applying rules of standard English usage and correcting grammatical errors ability to explain and defend grammatical changes, advanced knowledge of editing methods and practices, familiarity with established reference manuals and guidelines, ability to ensure consistency of style within a document and to mechanically edit rough-draft material. Ability to clarify meaning while maintaining the integrity of ideas, to suggest changes in wording and, with guidance, to provide some substantive editing to explain and defend editorial decisions.
