About this Position: This is a full-time position based in Anchorage, Alaska. We are looking for applicants who are committed to social justice and want to make a difference in the lives of limited English proficient Alaskans. This position has several job responsibilities including: interpreter appointment scheduling and monitoring with on-line Language Access Platform; assisting with translation projects; marketing the Language Interpreter Center to businesses, government agencies and non-profit organizations to ensure that these entities are making their services accessible to all Alaskans. Working with Language Interpreter Center Program Director to complete all the necessary steps with customers and interpreters for work authorizations as well as customer invoices and interpreter fee payments. In addition, this position will work with the Language Interpreter Center Program Director to conduct needed outreach and support for Alaskan interpreters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The individual for this position must possess excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task, communication skills, interpersonal skills, self-confidence, initiative and flexibility. The person must also be dependable and able to work with people from diverse cultures whose first language is not English.

Education/Experience: B.A. degree in a human services or project management discipline preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills and work experience with culturally diverse clients required. Experience with technology and formatting is required including programs such as Adobe, database or on-line scheduling programs, Excel, and Microsoft Office.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedule and monitor on-line interpreter appointments through the Language Interpreter Center (LIC) Language Access Platform. Set up and coordinate interpreter and translation requests and appointments when needed.

Prepare invoices for customers and payment to contract interpreters/translators.

Conduct outreach, recruitment, and assist with training opportunities for Alaskan interpreters.

Market and network to build LIC customer base to help with sustainability.

Accept payment for LIC services.

Check regularly for payments to deposit. Copy checks, credit card settlement reports and receipts for backup for deposit coding from. Assist with remote deposits and paperwork documentation as requested from LIC Program Director.

Complete invoicing, remittance notices, and check requests for interpreters.

Assist the Language Interpreter Center Program Director to schedule professional development training for interpreters.

Assist the Language Interpreter Center Program Director to screen and register new bilingual Alaskans to participate in available training and scheduling of language assessment exams.

Perform general clerical duties: photocopying, faxing, mailing and filing. Assist with meetings and conferences for Language Interpreter Center.
