Our lab has broad interests and the individual in this position would have the opportunity to contribute to projects with relevance to pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, glioblastoma, and even some plant biology all through the application of genomic techniques. We work closely with other laboratories at HudsonAlpha and this position will offer the opportunity to participate in those collaborations.less than/p>less thanp>less thanstrong>Theindividualin this position will:less than/strong>less than/p>less thanul>less thanli>Participate in the processing of samples for both metabolomic and genomic assays.less than/li>less thanli>Be familiar with and experienced in a biology lab environmentless than/li>less thanli>Have familiarity with data analysis (Excel or R), quality control metrics, and statistics.less than/li>less thanli>Have experience with genomics or metabolomics (preferred).less than/li>less thanli>Have experience with mammalian tissue culture (preferred)less than/li>less thanli>Be capable of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and good record keeping.less than/li>less thanli>Be flexible and adapt to changing priorities or strategiesless than/li>less thanli>Communicate frequently and effectively within the team and our collaborators at HudsonAlpha and beyond.less than/li>less thanli>Contribute to laboratory maintenance duties.less than/li>less than/ul>less thanhr>less thanp>less thanstrong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESless than/strong>less than/p>less thanp>The Research Associate carries out research protocols as determined by the Principal Investigator and manager. The Associate follows procedures as outlined, ensuring the consistency of research practices and, ultimately, helping ensure the consistency and integrity of project outcomes. The Associate also provides feedback in the case that procedures are not producing as expected.less than/p>less thanp>The Research Associate must understand laboratory procedure and safety. In addition to a general knowledge of the overall objectives of the research project, the Associate must have an understanding of the tactical methodology in particular. The Associate works under the direction of a graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, research assistant with supervisory responsibilities, senior scientist, or the lab Principal Investigator, communicating progress and advising of any issues that arise. The Associate must be able to adapt to modifications in protocol, changes in equipment or upgrades in software, as well as adjustments to the scope of research projects.less
