This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Grand Rapids Operations on a full-time basis.The Role:As a member of the Supply Chain team, you will be responsible for support in one of the key areas: manufacturing/warehouse operations, supply chain systems and processes, launch execution and scheduling and material management. You will act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, warehousing/manufacturing, logistics and suppliers to resolve issues and to provide support.What You'll Do:

Implement results in support of the supply chain organization's business objectives

Guide one of the key areas within the Global Supply Chain to ensure business objectives are met or exceeded in all areas including customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product, and financial initiatives

Connect with all levels of the organization, within the function as well as other functions and suppliers

Work with Containerization to ensure packaging requirements are met for current and future programs

Perform coordinated container counts to determine correct container loop sizes

Design, purchase, and maintain indirect material label requirements

Collaborate with Ergonomics to initiate Continuous Improvement activities

Complete 1738i paperwork for dunnage and alternate expendables

Update packaging specifications in SAP

Order replacement dunnage for damaged containers, and ensure appropriate disposal methods are utilized

Initiate requests in the Plant Floor Change Management process for packaging related changes

Optimize use of floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment

Direct support of Lean Material initiatives and LMS objectives

Coordinate inputs from internal/external customers, including subcontracting partners (Cleaning, Washing, and Maintenance vendors)

Issue and maintain purchase orders for all aspects of containerization

Assist in other GSC functions as needed

Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering

2 years minimum of work experience in a manufacturing environment

Solid understanding of material handling and manufacturing processes

Ability to address problems, identify issues, and implement new and innovative solutions

Strong project management and organization skills

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Strategies and Quality Systems

Experience in developing Cost/Benefit data analysis (Business Cases)

Master’s degree in Packaging, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering

Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes

AutoCAD experience

Product Design knowledge
