This is career-building opportunity is located in the West Allis, Wisconsin region and offered on a short-term contract / temporary basis. Responsibilities held by the Staff Accountant include the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A great deal of time in this position will be spent producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. And during the monthly close, your responsibilities will also cover various aspects of internal reporting. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.Responsibilities
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation Requirements - Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP)
Bank reconciliations experience highly desired
Solid understanding of account analysis
Account reconciliation experience required
Foundational knowledge in Accounts Receivable (AR)
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Skilled with ERP systems
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Great attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Recent and relevant accounting experience
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
