Job Description

The Plumbing Service Manager is a senior staff member who leads technicians in the installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing in both residential and commercial buildings. This manager routinely works directly with 3 “ 8 service and installation technicians based on workload and scheduling. The Plumbing Service Manager often communicates directly with customers and vendors.

Responsibilities/Duties

The Plumbing Service Manager directs daily operations of the Plumbing Service Department by successfully performing the following tasks, duties and responsibilities:

Scheduling: Schedules, directs, and provides technical support to meet workload demands and customers expectations.

Project Management: Manages some larger installations. Coordinates and directs a team of technicians throughout the project

Quality Control: Review technicians work to ensure the highest level of quality and professionalism. Makes recommendations to improve quality and productivity.

Safety: Review technicians work to ensure quality meets established standard techniques and safety requirements. Participates and/or conducts regularly scheduled departmental safety/information meetings.

Training: Establishes and maintains a regular training program. Trains technicians on the latest service techniques, equipment and products. Maintains training records. Conducts group and one-on-one meetings with technicians as required for training, evaluation and general communication.

Products and equipment: Maintains communication with vendors and technicians concerning warranty issues, product recall notices and operational problems or issues as they apply to products and equipment. Assist technicians with ordering special-order parts and equipment.

Invoicing: Assist accounting in accurate and timely invoicing of customer work orders. Review technicians time entry as needed.

Bidding: Meet with customers onsite to gather information and prepare estimates for remodel projects.

Procedures: Ensures that technicians follow all company policies.

Hiring: Assist in recruiting, hiring and training technicians to meet workload demands, company expectations and requirements.

Other tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements

The Plumbing Service Manager should possess the following skills, characteristics and abilities:

Excellent customer service and sales skills.

Master or Journeyman Plumbing license or five years of Plumbing Management Related Experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Exhibit an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the plumbing trade.

Has the ability to interpret, utilize and train on manuals, schematics and plumbing codebooks.

Technical aptitude with knowledge of local codes and an ability to use resources to find solutions.

Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standard of work produced.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong conflict management skills.

Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Good computer skills; knowledge of and proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and general software navigation.

Valid drivers license with a clean driving record and background.

Ability and willingness to work non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
