This position is responsible for departmental communications, branding, marketing, social media, and assessment to enhance the residence hall community experience. This position leads the recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, and professional development for various student positions including Resident Assistants, Community Assistants and Custodians. This position also provides leadership and oversight to the summer housing operations.This is a live-on position (apartment and meal plan provided) with weekly evening work and some weekend work required. This position requires responsibilities of entering campus residence halls, some without elevators, and requires infrequent lifting of items of 25 lbs.Responsibilities 60% Communications, Marketing, and Assessment
Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing communication strategies and objectives for Residence Life and makes recommendations to the leadership team for program or function enhancement.
Identifies communication workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised communication policies and procedures.
Schedules logistics and secures resources for communication activities across multiple areas of Residence Life to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications.
Works with Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Marketing and Graphics, and University Communications and Marketing to publish printed, electronic, and online materials.
Provides oversight for content and regular review of the Residence Life website.
Collaborates with colleagues to coordinate marketing campaigns for room sign-up and staff recruitment.
Oversees Residence Life social media accounts including content development, page design, follower engagement, brand implementation, and tracking analytics.
Leads the development, design, preparation, and implementation of periodic Residence Life reports and assessments, and records progress, status, or other special reports for the department, division, or campus leadership.
Develops and facilitates regular assessment training for Residence Life staff.
Coordinates the annual review and publishing of the Residence Life Student Guide.
Contributes to UWRF student recruitment by coordinating Residence Life involvement with Admissions and Orientation including staffing, marketing materials, presentations for students and families, residence hall tours and showrooms, and resource fair tables.
20% Leadership and Representation
Leads the recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, and professional development for various student positions including Resident Assistants, Community Assistants, and Custodians.
Participates and contributes to department meetings, including Residence Life central staff, Area Coordinators, and department-wide meetings.
Builds collaborative relationships by interacting with parents, students, and university personnel as well as participating in university functions, as requested.
Facilitates advisement for leadership conference delegations for GLACURH and NACURH .
Performs other duties as assigned by the Residence Life Director for Community and Student Development or other Residence Life staff.
Represents the department on campus committees and projects, as assigned, including Homecoming/Family Day committee and the coordination of the Opening Day Move Crew.
20% Summer Camps and Conferences
Provides leadership and oversight to the summer housing operations including hall scheduling, group logistics, check-in and check-out procedures, and billing.
Assists the Conferences and Contracts Services Manager with the initiation of contracts for summer residence hall camps and conferences as well as negotiation and approval of services to be provided for each group.
Collaborates with the Residence Life Director for Business Operations and Facilities to coordinate placement of summer conference groups with summer facilities projects and cleaning.
Collaborates with the Assistant Directors on summer housing for camps and conferences to execute check-ins and check-outs, summer RA staffing, cleaning of rooms, and other operational items.
Enforces department and university policies, communicate expectations, and establish communication with sponsors.
Reviews and proposes summer housing rates for camps and conferences.
Develops, maintains, and upgrades conference housing contracts and resolves contract disputes with sponsors.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 2 years post bachelor’s experience in Student Affairs
Knowledge of marketing, branding, social media, and/or web development
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, direction, and management for initiatives and projects
Excellent decision-making, organizational, task-management, and interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience onboarding and training student staff
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various constituencies, including parents, students, colleagues, and administrators
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field
Previous experience working in Residence Life
