Are you curious about a career in the building trades but unsure where to start? This opportunity is perfect for someone mechanically inclined and eager to learn.
I'm a licensed architect with over 30 years of hands-on experience. I’m looking for someone to assist with home repairs and renovations on properties I own and manage. No formal experience is necessary—just a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to handle physical work. I’ll provide training in a wide variety of skills, from roofing to plumbing to siding and more.
What You’ll Learn:
- Installing doors, windows, siding, and roofing
- Running plumbing and electrical lines
- Replacing furnaces and water heaters
- Framing, drywall, and basic construction
- General troubleshooting and repair
What I’m Looking For:
- Fast learner with mechanical aptitude
- Reliable transportation (not dropped off or picked up daily)
- No conflicting commitments during the workday
- Comfortable with ladders, rooftops, and physical labor
- Able to use basic tools and read a measuring tape
- Ideally located in the Milwaukee or Racine area
The Details:
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Pay: Starting at $18/hour, with potential for immediate increase based on performance
- Paid weekly (with a one-week holdback)
- You’ll be considered an independent contractor (no taxes withheld)
This role is ideal for someone looking to build a solid foundation in the trades. In fact, three former helpers of mine have gone on to start their own successful contracting businesses. The person you're replacing is beginning an electrical apprenticeship—proof that this job can open real doors if you’re motivated.
Important: I’ve had a lot of responses from highly qualified candidates. While I appreciate your skills, this position is more suited to someone at the beginning of their journey.
If the ad is still up, the position is still available.
Text me if you're interested: 414-374-6896
Please include your name, location, and a bit about your experience or interest in the trades. I’ll get back to you by the evening.
Thanks,
Ray
