Position: Grazing Assistant
Overview:
Goats On The Go Burlington, a targeted grazing company, seeks at least one Grazing Assistant to help manage a herd of up to 150 goats (and occasionally sheep). This position involves traveling to customers' properties to control invasive weeds and brush through grazing.
Key Responsibilities:
Install portable fencing.
Monitor animal health and wellbeing.
Observe and document changes in vegetative cover.
Additional Details:
Serve as the on-call first point of contact for herd and project-related issues.
Duty periods of 3-5 days, followed by similar off-duty periods as jobs arise.
Travel between Burlington and project sites via company vehicle or mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
Requirements:
Dependability, independence, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform physically challenging outdoor work in various weather conditions and rough terrain.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to back a trailer.
Hands-on experience with livestock is a plus but not required.
Relevant coursework in agriculture, animal science, veterinary medicine, forestry, natural resource management, or ecology is beneficial.
Suitable for remote workers, couples, or retirees seeking extra work.
