Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Flux core & MIG welding, often working with various types of steel (carbon, alloy, stainless) and other metals.
Interpret blueprints, drawings & specifications to accurately position and weld components according to design specifications, configurations, dimensions and tolerances.
Ensure welds meet quality standards and adhere to specifications, perform necessary rework if needed.
Operate various types of welding equipment, including manual and semi-automatic welding machines, and understand the principles for FCAW.
Adhere to all safety protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow proper welding procedures.
Identify and resolve welding issues, including troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, adjusting welding parameters, and addressing weld defects.
Maintain and clean welding equipment, ensuring it’s in proper working order.
Handle materials and components safely and efficiently, using appropriate lifting techniques, tools and equipment (e.g., overhead cranes, forklifts).
May work as part of a team, collaborating with other welders, fabricators and engineers to complete projects
May be involved in other tasks such as cutting, grinding and preparing surfaces.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong knowledge and experience in flux core welding techniques, including understanding of weld types, parameters and procedures.
Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
Strong understanding and adherence to welding safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of materials
Ability to identify and resolve welding issues and troubleshoot equipment.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various positions.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate and high-quality welds.
Understanding of welding equipment and the ability to operate and maintain it.
Education and Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a welder required
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Heavy Manufacturing in a Job Shop preferred
