Renaissance Books is a 66-year-old family owned and operated bookstore. We're hiring a part-time bookseller at the world's first and last used bookstore in an airport.
Our customers are almost always happy and friendly travelers who have either been shopping with us for years, or who are coming in for the first time and are amazed to find "a real bookstore in an airport." This is definitely not just another retail job. The airport setting is bright and energizing. The vibes are second to none.
I work hard to make my bookshop a place where people are happy to come to work every shift. Your coworkers here would be good, hard-working people who are each a delight to work with. Your ideas and suggestions would actually matter here, and your initiative trying something new and creative is something I love and encourage.
There is always something to do here, and you will never be bored. The shifts fly by. Worst case you pick up an interesting book and get paid to read itand then hopefully can recommend it to our customers if it's any good.
Renaissance Books is both modernizing and expanding; this is a great opportunity to leave your mark on a Milwaukee institution (Google us and you'll see!).
While my family business cannot currently afford to offer big-company benefits, we do have a tradition of an annual Christmas bonus. You can basically have used books for free (ask for details), and can buy new books at a generous discount. (We also have free snacks and hot drinks.)
The ideal candidate would have prior bookstore or library experience, and would be available 12:30-5:30pm Mondays through Fridays. I can guarantee a minimum of 25 hours per week, and would value an applicant's flexibility to occasionally help cover for sick/vacationing coworkers.
Please reply with your resumé, and let me know your generally availability work hours.
Appreciatively,
Alex John
