The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is looking for Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs) to join team in a full-time, part-time, or relief capacity! This position will be based out of our Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. Full-time applicants have the option to work fully at the clinic or spend some of their time in our shelters! As a CVT at WHS, you will make an impact by supporting our awesome clients and their animals. You will hone your surgical support skills while working alongside veterinary professionals and a management team dedicated to supporting your growth, development, and well-being.

The schedule for this position is first shift and requires weekday availability until 5:30pm. WHS offers a competitive starting wage of $20-25/hour, financial support for continuing education and license renewal, plus a signing bonus! We are currently offering $1500 in hiring and retention bonuses as a gift for new full or part-time CVTs! New full-time or part-time CVTs will be eligible to receive a $750 bonus gift upon completion of 90 days of employment and a second $750 bonus gift after completion of 6 months of employment! That’s a grand total of $1500! To be eligible, the employee must maintain full-time or part-time status at the time the bonus is administered. The bonus will not be prorated if an employee does not reach the 90day and 6 month timelines.

Job Responsibilities

Surgical preparation of patients and post-operative care

Anesthetize, intubate, and extubate patients

Monitor vitals under anesthesia and trouble-shoot anesthetic equipment as needed

Calculate drug dosages; handle and track controlled substances

Clean and maintain equipment, surgical quarters and animal areas as needed

Ensure prompt and accurate paperwork procedures are followed

Effectively communicate in a friendly and professional manner with co-workers and the public

Provide excellent customer service

Qualifications

Veterinary Technician Certification required

Experience in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter preferred

Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs repeatedly throughout the day

Signing Bonus

WHS is currently offering a signing bonus of up to $1,500. Eligible hires can earn $750 after 90 days of employment and additional $750 after 6 months for a total of $1,500!
