Job Summary: Performs manual and machine operator tasks in the set-up, maintenance and operation of a flexographic printing press.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reads instructions from the job ticket and sets up or directs set-up of press based on instructions.
- Makes job ready by running make ready to check print quality, registration, color, die cutting, perforation and carrier width.
- Makes final pre-run inspection of job and runs job. When necessary confers with supervisor for approval. Responsible for quality of print, registration, color, die cutting, perforation and carrier width. Operates or directs operation of printing press to print in accordance with job orders.
- Alert supervisor or scheduling if jobs will exceed allotted time.
- Returns dies and plates in appropriate holder, to specific locations.
- Must be flexible in changing priorities based on scheduling needs.
- Creates roll tags for inventory returns.
- Performs accurate data collection, and updates Bill of Materials on applicable jobs
- Performs preventative maintenance on press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, cleaning and minor adjustments to rollers and other small moving parts.
- Reads Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs). Sees to proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
- Operates or assist on other pressroom equipment and presses if needed and when workload permits.
- Assists in cleaning up and keeping immediate work area neat and orderly.
- Help to maintain proper inventory levels of general necessity items and notify supervisor when low.
- Maintain ink inventory/order as necessary.
- Performs other tasks as requested.

Job Requirements: Requires good knowledge of how to handle dies for cutting pressure sensitive material, mix and produce correct color ink for printing. Good knowledge of applicability of various jobs to press. Ability to read and understand written instructions and set up press to carry out instructions. Thorough knowledge of problem-solving on press. Thorough knowledge of press operations and functions.
Minimum Qualifications: Vocational/technical degree and/or equivalent experience. Must pass drug test.
