SMALLPIE in Bay View is hiring!
We are seeking Cafe Team Members to join our small, but mighty team. Together we make delicious sandwiches and drinks, serve up delicious pies and sell amazing treats from the Honeypie Bakeshop as well as plants and gifts from our Buttercup plant shop.
Working at Smallpie is fun, fast-paced and focused on kindness and excellent service to our guests and wonderful community. We are looking for mature, reliable folks who thrive in doing a variety of tasks in their work (no day is the same!) and who enjoy working in a customer-facing environment taking care of people, pie and plants! Full and part time hours are available. One weekend shift is required of all our team members. We have short-term Summer shifts available as well as long-term positions and opportunities for growth.
A Café Team Member at Smallpie is part of the daily operating team who is responsible for (but not limited to):
- Opening and closing the café
- Set up of tables and chairs on patio
- Set up of seasonal plants outdoors
- Prepping and portioning ingredients for our menu including slicing meats and cheeses, making salads and dressings
- Making sandwiches to order
- Preparing food orders for guests – cutting pies, heating handpies, etc.
- Making drink orders for guests – coffee, non-alcoholic and limited alcoholic drinks
- Cleaning and organizing at opening set up, throughout the day and at close
- Providing excellent customer service, answering guest questions, fulfilling guest orders quickly
- Working a register, handling money and credit cards accurately
We require of our Café Team members: a positive and professional approach to work, a positive attitude toward team mates and guests, excellence in customer service, ability to work with urgency and flexibility, ability desire to perform varied tasks throughout the day with speed and accuracy, ability to problem solve and work independently, ability to stand for extended periods of time, moving in varying directions and to lift up to 50lbs.
Previous work experiences that will help you succeed in our role: café/coffee shop, professional kitchen, retail plant or garden shop, restaurant service, other high volume retail work or service-focused work.
Wage: $16-$18 hour (including shared tips)
