The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring part-time and full-time Animal Care Technicians (ACTs) to provide support to animals and offer valuable services to the community. ACTs report to the Client Services/Animal Care supervisory team and work onsite at the Milwaukee Campus. Key accountabilities:
Provide animals with food, water, enrichment, and other essential daily needs
Maintain clean animal housing following our high standard cleaning guidelines
Provide initial exams and vaccinations for animals at time of intake
Administer medical treatments under the direction of a veterinarian
Maintain detailed and accurate records in our animal management software
Commit to a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach with all clients, callers, and coworkers
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Ability to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work
Availability to work evenings, a weekend shift, and holidays
Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Prior animal care experience is a plus

About us:
The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, youth programs, low-cost veterinary resources, retail stores, volunteer programs, dog training classes, and much more. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the state’s busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. WHS is an independent nonprofit and receives no general government funding and is not part of any national umbrella group.

Training Dates: January 2nd-February 10th. Open availability required Mondays-Fridays.
Availability to work one of the schedules below, a weekend shift, and rotating holidays
Available schedules:
Full-time: Sunday 10-6 pm, Monday 7-3:30 pm, Tuesday 7-3:30 pm, Wednesday 1-8 pm, Thursday 7-3:30 pm
Part-time: Saturday 7-3:30 pm, Tuesday 7-3:30 pm, Friday 7-3:30 pm
Availability to work one of the schedules above, a weekend shift, and rotating holidays.
Must be able to routinely carry 25lbs and up to 50lbs

Prior animal care and client service experience a plus
