POSITION: We are hiring a Licensed Piercer or Piercer w/ at least 1 year of experience
-Please note: in Wisconsin, you must be 18+ to be a piercer
-Pay: Hourly rate range $16/hour - $20/hour + Tips (hourly rate can increase based on experience & license)
-Hours/Schedule: Approx 30 hours per week with Mondays & Tuesdays off
-Work location: on site at our shop located at 2105 N. Prospect Avenue on Milwaukee’s East Side (with occasional event/festival work off site)
ABOUT PALOMA WILDER: Established in 2017, Paloma Wilder curates a collection of traditionally crafted Fine Jewelry, designed and produced by artists at our studio in the heart of Milwaukee. Our storefront offers hollow-needle ear piercing and earring curations for a personalized touch. We are also home of the BOND bar, the Midwest's longest running permanent bracelet bar.
ABOUT POKE: From one lobe to a fully curated ear; piercings currently offered include earlobe, helix, conch, flat, tragus, daith, rook, snugs, and forward helix. Our piercing jewelry tops are sold in 14k or 18k gold, available in both yellow and white with natural gemstones. All jewelry comes with implant-grade Titanium press fit Flatbacks with 14k Gold Flatbacks available upon request for healed piercings. Barbells and hoops in our case are all solid 14k and up. Our POKE services are about 2 years old. We would love to explore expanding our piercing offerings (such as nose piercing) with a licensed piercer.
ABOUT THIS ROLE: We are seeking a licensed piercer or a piercer with at least 1 year of ear piercing experience. You will also be working at our POKE Counter so we would prefer that you have at least 1 year of retail sales experience.
PROPOSED SCHEDULE:
-Mondays & Tuesdays: OFF
-Wednesdays: Flexible (5 hours of admin/inventory)
-Thursdays: 1:00PM - 7:30PM
-Fridays: 1:00PM - 7:30PM
-Saturdays: 11:00AM - 5:30PM
-Sundays: 11:00AM - 5:30PM
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service / POKE Counter Sales: Check appointment schedule for the day/week upon arrival, Greet and welcome all clients who enter the shop (walk-ins & appointments), Be friendly, warm, and energetic with customers and clients - we want them to enjoy their experience and feel special at our shop each and every visit, Assist clients with POKE earring shopping, take out and show jewelry, and answer any questions they may have, Maintain POKE counter cleanliness and orderliness during open shop hours including frequent glass polishing, Check out clients utilizing Square point of sale system, handling both card and cash payments, and wrapping up/boxing up any jewelry as needed.
Piercing / Ear Curation / Earring Changes:
Conduct thorough ear evaluation and assist customer with ear curation/earring changes and/or placement for ear piercing. Follow all POKE policies and standard operating procedures for every piercing. Prioritize customer safety and comfort at all times. Provide clear, kind, and professional communications with clients at all times. Provide after-care education and communicate the benefits of purchasing a pillow and Steri-wash. Schedule and conduct all follow up downsize appointments for Flatbacks. Provide information or assist with check-ins with any clients who may have any post appointment needs or questions.
Safety & Sanitation: Complete and maintain Bloodborne Pathogens Training. Complete and maintain Piercer License. Maintain a sterile, safe, and sanitized environment at all times including ensuring all surfaces, instruments, and supplies are properly sanitized to prevent any contamination. Follow all dress code policies to ensure for safety, sanitation, and professionalism. Follow daily opening & closing checklists to include daily sanitation of piercing room and POKE counter, daily preparation of piercing station and POKE counter, and daily clean up of work areas before departure. Complete Ultrasonic and Autoclave maintenance + any necessary record keeping
Assist team with daily & weekly shop maintenance tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting/tidying, stocking bathroom, garbage & recycling removal (these are shared duties). Follow all state, federal, and CDC guidelines closely to ensure a sanitary and safe experience for all staff and clients.
Inventory & Supplies: Conduct weekly & monthly POKE inventory assignments. Weekly supplies & earrings check + add to inventory needs list. Monthly FULL supply & earring inventory (and added to Square inventory). Assist with POKE ordering. Process incoming orders/products. Enter in products into Square. Put away, label, and organize in appropriate cases.
Other Shop & Company Duties: Meet with team monthly to go over social media strategy, ideas, and assist with content needs
Meet with Paloma regularly to discuss POKE operations, strategy, goals, and review department sales
Communicate any operational or safety concerns as soon as possible with management and assist with implementation of solutions
Be flexible and willing to assist other departments/teams if there is a call in or large event where we need “all hands on deck”
