Job description

We’re looking for a skilled Lead Tech who’s ready to take the reins on residential smart home and security installs. This is a hands-on role for someone who doesn’t just know the work — but can run a job site, direct a crew, and make sure the work gets done cleanly, professionally, and on schedule.

If you’ve got experience with structured wiring, AV installs, and low-voltage systems — and you’re confident managing a team of technicians in the field — we want to meet you.

What You’ll Do

Run point on job sites: delegate tasks, manage timelines, and make sure installs meet spec

Read and interpret blueprints, system documentation, and wiring diagrams

Install structured cabling, AV systems, surveillance, access control, smart lighting, and automation hardware

Set up and test control systems (Savant, Crestron, Control4, Lutron, Sonos, etc.)

Handle pre-wire, trim-out, and final install phases from start to finish

Solve problems in real-time, both technical and logistical

Communicate with builders, project managers, and customers

Document the work, flag discrepancies, and coordinate with the office team

Keep jobs moving, train newer techs, and maintain a professional job site

What You Bring

Minimum 1–2 years of experience in AV, home automation, or low-voltage installation

Previous experience managing or leading small install teams

Strong understanding of construction sites and working alongside trades

Able to terminate and test Cat6, coax, fiber, speaker wire, etc.

Comfortable using ladders, power tools, and handling tech hardware

Can lift up to 50 lbs and work in attics, crawlspaces, or wherever the job takes you

Professional, respectful, and great with communication

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice-to-Haves

Familiarity with Control4, Lutron, Sonos, and Eero

Understanding of IP networking, IR, and low-voltage

Comfortable working with pre-construction layouts and updating marked-up prints

Experience mentoring or onboarding junior technicians
